Montañita is a small town in the parish of Manglaralto, Santa Elena province, about 180 km northwest of Guayaquil. It is known for surfing and a lively main street.
The climate is warm all year, with an average around 28 °C (82 °F) and a rainy season from December to May. The towns just north, like Olón and Ayampe, are quieter.
